An amazing start to the 2016-17 school year. We spent the week getting ready for the school year and getting to know each other a bit better. Mitchell Middle School is a kind and accepting place in a great community.

All week long students had the chance write their responses four questions posted on the windows of the library.

The questions were:

Our students did a great job giving thoughtful responses. To see some responses from Mitchell Middle School students and staff ‘click’ each of the questions above.

These are great questions to talk about at home as well.

These questions came from an initiative by CTV called Canada In A Day. All Canadians are encouraged to share their life on September 10, 2016. CTV will then create a movie for Canada’s 150th birthday next year. The movie will be entirely shot by Canadians showing off what matters to them and their lives. Videos can be a special occasion or simple moments. It can be anything that matters to you.

From the Canada In A Day website:

WHAT IS CANADA IN A DAY?

On September 10th, 2016 grab your camera and film your life.
Canada In A Day will be a CTV special created entirely from footage made by Canadians in one day, over 24 hours, and will reflect our thoughts, hopes, and lives. It will be a celebration of Canada for our 150th anniversary.

Thank you to everyone for a wonderful first week. Mitchell Middle School is an amazing place. Everyone has been so kind and accepting to me. I am very much looking forward to learning more about the students, staff, the school and community. It was fascinating to watch students and staff respond to the questions: What do you love? What do you fear? What do you hope for? What does Canada mean to you? I can’t wait to explore these questions even more and to continue our adventure this year.
