Dear Parents/Guardians:
Hanover School Division is hosting a Career Café & Exhibition on Wednesday, May 2, 1:30- 4pm and 5-7pm, at Steinbach Regional Secondary School. This exciting event is open to all Hanover School Division students and their parents/guardians because it’s never too early to start career preparation!
The Career Café is an opportunity for students, along with their parents or guardians, to meet individuals from the business community and speak one-on-one with them about their careers, what education/training they needed, what they do in a typical day and any advice to students considering a job in their field. There will be over 60 professionals from 16 different industries.
There will be display booths from over 40 exhibitors representing many diverse businesses,sector councils and organizations that can help in career development planning and decision-making. These exhibitors will be able to provide additional information, guidance and expertise.
Local companies will be on hand to promote career opportunities within their organization as well as a job board showing current job openings in the Hanover area for students looking for work.
Youth Employment Services will be on hand to provide resume and cover letter help as well as financial/tuition information for youth in care.
The objective of the Career Café and Exhibition is to increase community and business involvement with our students while helping them learn about occupations, essential skills needed and learn how their education connects to employment opportunities. Providing this career guidance platform will enrich our student’s relationship with what they are doing in school to “the real world” and help them in their education and career planning.
