Dear Parents/Guardians,

This letter is to inform you that there have been reports of an individual engaging in suspicious activity near our schools in Mitchell. The incident took place off school grounds and outside of school hours. Hanover School Division has been in contact with the RCMP, and they are investigating.

Student safety is our top priority. I suggest that all parents/guardians take this opportunity to remind their
children of these important messages surrounding personal safety:

  • Children should try to walk in groups and in well-lit areas, where it is easy to find help if needed.
  • If ever a child feels threatened for any reason, he/she should contact a trusted adult immediately.
  • Children should always be aware of their surroundings, and be cautious if they come into contact with
    any unknown person.
  • Children should never get into the car of a stranger.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school or the Steinbach RCMP at (204) 326-4452.

Yours Sincerely,

Randy Dueck, Superintendent-CEO
Hanover School Division
