Information for all families and caregivers of important events that are happening at Mitchell Middle School over the next week or so.
- Thursday, September 27 at 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM is our Terry Fox Run. Students are encouraged to bring in $2 to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation. Students who donate $2 will be allowed to wear a hat for the day, if they like. Families are encouraged to join us for the Terry Fox Run.
- Friday, September 28 beginning at 9:10 AM – 10:25 AM MMS will be recognizing Orange Shirt Day. Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for our kids to learn about residential schools, truth and reconciliation. Students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt if they have one. Families are encouraged to join us for the morning activities to learn more about Orange Shirt Day.
- Monday, October 1, 2018 MMS has acquired the rights to view the movie Indian Horse. This movie follows the life of Canadian First Nations boy, Saul Indian Horse, as he survives residential school and life amongst the racism of the 1970s. A talented hockey player, Saul must find his own path as he battles stereotypes and alcoholism. It is rated 14A. Parents are welcome to bring their children to watch the movie to learn more about residential schools in Canada’s recent past. You can learn more about the film here. Show time begins at 6:00 PM in our Learning Commons (Library). There is no cost to attend this event.
