Dear Parents and/or Guardians,
My name is Shayli Patrick and I am the new home room teacher in 5F and all French classes in Grade 5 until about May 2020. I have spent the last calendar year teaching down the hall from 5F in grade 6 classes at Mitchell Middle School so I am comfortable with and aware of the expectations for staff and students.
My original start date was supposed to be on January 20, 2020. But, as you likely know, babies decide when things happen, so I got the chance to start a few days early (Mrs. Friesen and family are doing well!).
I understand the transition for some students may be challenging at first. However, I believe I am an understanding and patient person, and will do my best to make this transition as positive as possible to accommodate your child’s needs. Naturally, some expectations or teaching practices may be slightly different but I have communicated with Mrs. Friesen for quite some time and have had the opportunity to spend time with grade 5 students already so I am confident that the transition will be as smooth as possible.
I believe the student’s success at school is determined by parents and teachers working together. I will be in regular communication through email throughout my time here. Please feel free to contact me anytime you have a concern or a question with regards to your child.
