June 19, 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian:
As a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic and the suspension of classroom learning in March 2020, the school immunization program was postponed for immunizations which had been
scheduled for spring of 2020. The school immunization program is delivered in grade 6, 8, or 9. If your child(ren) was in those grades last May, they have been affected.

Each Service Delivery Organization (SDO) (also known as regional health authority) is planning so that children missing doses can be caught up. This may occur this summer or during the upcoming 2020/21 school year, and may be held in new locations as a result of COVID-19. Parents will be contacted by letter, email and/or telephone when a date and location has been selected. The consent forms completed last fall are still valid. If your consent has changed or your child’s immunization was completed by a provider other than public health, please contact your local public health office as soon as possible before the scheduled date of immunization.

If you have any questions about this or Manitoba’s Immunization Program please contact your local public health office (www.manitoba.ca/health/publichealth/offices.html).

For more information about Manitoba’s Routine Immunization Schedules including information about the vaccines recommended for your child(ren), please visit: www.manitoba.ca/health/publichealth/cdc/div/index.html.
