Dear Parent/Guardian:

Due to the current high volume of COVID-19 cases in Manitoba, your school immunization clinic was postponed. You will receive further communication in the coming weeks about rescheduling the clinic.

The School Immunization Program primarily occurs in grade 6 and grade 8 or 9. This will affect your child(ren) in varying degrees depending on their grade. The vaccines given in grade 6 offer protection against three diseases while the vaccine recommended in grade 8 or 9 is a booster vaccine as it “boosts” the protection your child(ren) received during their routine childhood immunizations.

We apologize for any disruption this causes. If you choose to have your child(ren) immunized before the school clinic is rescheduled, contact your primary care provider.

For more information about Manitoba’s Immunization Program including information about the vaccines recommended for your child(ren), please visit:

Sincerely,

Dr. Brent Roussin, MD, JD, MPH, FRCPC
Manitoba Chief Provincial Public Health Officer
